About

In “Dare Cycle,” three high school freshmen are dared/bullied to break into an abandoned (haunted) hospital and are confronted by the evil within. The story will be told in both the past and the present. The main characters: Lucas (the Survivalist), Isabella (the Fashionista), and Alex (the Gamer).

Those story points were conceived during the last days of summer school 2021 by a merged class of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Saint Joseph Catholic School, Fort Wayne, IN.

The Dare Cycle class has always used English principles to learn the “pieces” of filmmaking, for the purpose of making an animated film. The curriculum is conceived and adapted by instructor “Mr. Bryant” Rozier, who based the arts-integration learning on how he incorporated his English/Creative Writing degree across a handful of disciplines (photography, video, design, etc.) in a 20+ year professional career.

The project allowed for true exploration while accentuating the school’s philosophies. Principal Cristy Jordán even helped contribute to the film’s logo: an analogy, comparing students to screws, that the Dare Cycle kids can explain.

Nearing its final phase, the film is slated for completion in 2025
